About Us

What is OMG it’s OGM and where did it come from?

In 2023, my dear brother in law, Edward McCabe died unexpectedly.  He had gone into the hospital for a routine surgery and something went wrong.  This was a tragic event for my sister who had been married to Eddie for 53 years.  They were kids when they got married and my sister is lost without him.

Unfortunately, I do not live anywhere near my sister – she lives in Northern Connecticut and I live in Los Angeles and so it is very difficult to be a daily presence in her life.  Distance is not allowing us to be together.

One day I just decided that the best I could do was to tackle her mailbox.  Not the one that is attached to your computer or phone or device, but your real mailbox – the one that all the bills and junk mail comes to.  How depressing every day to open a mailbox to nothing but reminders that someone is missing.

I set up my dining room table with scraps and papers and photos and comics and ribbons and stories and poetry and articles from the newspaper and created an assembly line of cards to send to her.

ONLY GOOD MAIL was my goal.  I could not replace my brother-in-law or the void his death had created but I could distract my sister if only for a moment to find inspiration, humor, and weightlessness.

Then I started to think of all the people in the world who have empty mailboxes or mailboxes filled with crap. This is really where OMG it's OGM was born.

I hope you will send some good mail to someone who you thinks need a lift.  And maybe you’ll find other ways to keep the OGM coming no matter what you decide to send – create your own OGM.  Thanks for reading and sending mail!
